WHAT WE OFFER

ETAP Modeling and Simulation Studies are a critical component in the design and analysis of electrical systems, offering an array of tools to ensure optimal performance and safety.

At AMP Engineering, our experts utilize ETAP to conduct detailed load flow studies, short circuit analysis, arc flash calculations, and more. These simulations allow us to predict system behavior under various scenarios, helping to enhance operational reliability and efficiency.

Whether optimizing motor starting methods, coordinating relays and fuses, or offering general recommendations for electrical system operations, our ETAP Modeling provides actionable insights that guide our clients towards robust and cost-effective solutions.

Load Flows

By calculating the steady-state flow of electric power through a network, we can determine the voltage magnitudes, phase angles, and power flows at different points within a system under normal operating conditions. We will then analyze the steady-state behavior of a power system, identifying potential issues like voltage drops, overloaded lines, and reactive power imbalances.

Short Circuit Studies

We examine or analize an electrical system to determine the magnitude of currents that can flow during an electrical fault then compare those values to the ratings of installed equipment and setting of installed short circuit protection devices.

Arc Flash Calculations and Labeling

We determine the potential severity of an electrical arc flash, specifically the amount of heat energy (incident energy) a worker could be exposed to at a given distance from energized electrical equipment. We will attach labels to electrical equipment that clearly state the calculated arc flash hazard level, including important details like incident energy and the required personal protective equipment (PPE) needed to safely work near it.

General Electrical System Operation Recommendation

We will provide a set of guidelines for safely and efficiently operating an electrical system, including practices like avoiding overloading circuits, regularly inspecting equipment for damage, maintaining proper grounding, and only allowing qualified personnel to perform repairs or modifications.

Motor Starting (Dynamic and Static)

By utilizing ETAP software, we are able to simulate a "motor starting" and analyze the impact on an electrical power system. We have the option to perform both "static" and "dynamic" analyses. The static analysis examines the immediate voltage dip at the moment the motor starts, while the dynamic analysis simulates the motor's acceleration over time, accounting for factors such as inertia and motor characteristics throughout the starting process.

Relay and Fuse Coordination

By ensuring the protective devices in an electrical power system work together effectively, we can isolate and clear faults with minimal disruption to the system.
